Remove annoying Instant Search nag prompt from Outlook 2007

Im not the only one who hates the new Windows Desktop Search.(Updated with link to register article on Microsoft / Google Whines).

Googles new sync for Outlook plug in disables Windows Desktop search too, and it disables the outlook connector to Windows Live but thats not important right now. I just want the nagware to go away

Anyway

"Windows Desktop Search will not properly index Google Apps Sync data files, so in order to stop indexing from running indefinitely, the Google Apps Sync installer disables it. We recommend using the default Outlook search,"

Google said. (Source: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/06/17/microsoft_whines_over_google_outlook_plugin/ (External Link) )

Too right. I dont want anything indexing nothing indefinitely.

Uninstalling and disabling the nag prompt in Outlook

I uninstalled Windows Desktop Search using Add/Remove Programs. It warned me that programs installed afterwards might complain, and so they did - well Outlook 2007 did. It put an annoying 'Instant Search' prompt on the surface and it took me a while to get rid of it.

Outlook 2007 Search Nag Prompt

I dont know why you can't just click right to dismiss it forever. Its as if the arrogant development company are forcing you to use it and if you have the temerity not to then they will nag you forever. Anyway heres how to get rid of it..

Outlook 2007 Prompt for Windows Search It doesnt say, until you click the yes button, that its pesky Windows Search 4.0. Just say no.

Outlook 2007 search nagware check boxClick Tools --> Other --> Advanced and you'll find the check box "Show Prompts to enable Instant Search"

Uncheck it and its gone!
